Barca coach questions about the use of VAR
Barca coach questions about the use of VAR

Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Marino has also expressed
frustration with the refereeing after the Real Madrid match after Gerard Pique.
Allegedly, most of the controversial decisions went in favor of the Madrid
team. Barcelona coach Kike Setien, however, did not comment directly on the
matter. However, he said that the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was not
being done properly.
The use of
technology has been questioned many times since the advent of VAR. Some of the
referees' decisions in Real's 2-1 win over Sociedad in Spain's top league on
Sunday night have reignited the controversy. The referee made some important
decisions in the match with the help of VAR in favor of Real.
Sociedad's Adnan Yanuzai sent the ball into the net with a long-range low shot in the 7th minute after Sergio Ramos' successful spot-kick early in the second half gave Real the lead. But the referee did not score as Marino was offside near the small D-box after seeing the VAR, although he said he had no touch.
Karim Benzema's
goal in the 70th minute doubled the lead. While taking control of his
teammate's cross, the ball did not hit his shoulder or hand, it was not clear.
The referee took the help of VAR for this. Later he played the goal flute.
In this
victory, Real has risen to the top by beating Barcelona. Barcelona will play
Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday to regain the top spot. Earlier in the day, at a
press conference, the coach of the Catalan team expressed his opinion in
response to the question raised about Real's match and VAR.
"Everyone
has seen what happened in yesterday's match. Everyone will give their verdict.
”
“VAR is a
technology that can make us more accurate. But it must be used properly ...
Some events will be seen in VAR, some will not - the question may arise as to
why. That would give the impression that it is not being used well.
